ABOUT

When Guðjón, an Icelandic farmer, loses his beloved in the war raging throughout most of the world, he builds a small hut in her memory within the peaceful environment close to his house. It has snowed a lot today. As other days, Alfred theorist, a good friend of Guðjón´s from the neighbouring farm, drops by for a visit. Today, old lady Gunna´s cat has disappeared and Alfred conveys a special theory that has a strange impact on Gudjon´s dream when he falls asleep in the hut.

Directors comment

"Ljósöld is religion, interpreted through the inner struggles of a man living in a world of hope and fear. Things and thoughts from reality become symbolized in dreams that reflect the hope for a brighter future. The journey is a praise to freedom. As the director of Ljósöld I learned that its not the nature of the story or my own insights that matter the most, but its rather the ability to lead and harness the full potential and skills of the crew that provide a director with his best work.
